Has anyone successfully deployed .NET 4.5 framework using the WSUS package publisher?

If so, what options/setup did you use?

hi DDSkier,

I have attempted to deploy this today to a few Windows 7 clients (using the original redistributable EXE with the following switches, /q /norestart /ChainingPackage ADMINDEPLOYMENT). It does install correctly however on Windows 7 it says the update failed with code BC2 and then it will want to try install again.

This way works perfectly fine though on Windows 08R2 servers from my testing so far.

Has anyone managed to successfully deploy this in a Windows 7 environment without the BC2 error?

BC2 (3010 in decimal) is not an error. It means that .NET install is successful and needs machine restart to complete installation.

You can see .NET setup return codes @ http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee390831.aspx

Note that you add the "3010" return code as a successful result within the "Update Creation Wizard" of the WSUS Package Publishers.

After adding that return code, the WSUS clients will show a successful installation.
