[Closed] Scheduled Install fails

Topics: Publishing Issue
Jul 24, 2013 at 2:24 PM
Hi,

I am able to package and Approve Acrobat Reader. It gets downloaded on the client, but does not install at the scheduled time. All other Microsoft patches get installed except Reader (so no issues with the policies).
It gets installed when I manually click 'Install Updates' in Windows Update on the client.
I have tried packaging it as both Update and Package.

Not sure if I am doing anything wrong?

looks like a bug in Version 1.2.1307.1. Any possibility of a fix?
Thanks,

Hello VinodReddy,

What is the AU agent policy ? Download and install everyday at 09:00:00 ?
When you have publish the update, does the checkbox "Can request user input" checked ?

Hi,

I have tried different times as I was testing.
Tried "Can request user input" checked and unchecked. The package gets downloaded to the client computer but does not get installed at the scheduled time nor gets the option 'Install updates and shutdown'.
It works fine when I publish using Local Update Publisher. But I like WSUS-PP interface. Check box remains uncheck when publishing package using LUP.
So currently publishing using LUP and managing using WSUS-PP.

I don't think that the problem lie in WPP. WPP doesn't interact with scheduled install or AU Agent Policy.
  • Can you try with an oldest release (v1.2.1306.16 for example) ?
  • Does this occur on one computer or several ?
The log show :
  • 2013-07-24 09:38:29:107 1068 934 AU Setting AU scheduled install time to 2013-07-24 09:00:00
  • 2013-07-24 10:00:10:065 1068 148 AU Forced install timer expired for scheduled install
    and
  • 2013-07-24 10:00:10:096 1068 148 AU Setting AU scheduled install time to 2013-07-25 09:00:00
Is it possible that the client detect the update, but take a long time to download it and the installation time is past when finish to download it ? Do you have a BITS policy to restrict the used bandwidth ?

In the WPP interface, does the status of the update is "Not installed" or "Downloaded" ?
