[Solved] XP SP3: "specified cryptographic algorithm is not supported"

Topics: Configuration Issue
Jul 29, 2014 at 1:30 PM
After some update I'm getting this message:
"specified cryptographic algorithm is not supported on this platform"
every time I try even change update's status (revise, decline, expire). I'm connecting from Windows XP SP3 pro x86 to Windows Server 2003 R2 x86, both with last updates.
Generally, from XP i can view status but can't change anything: "algorithm is not supported"

Here is the solution (reg file that must be installed in XP SP3 with installed NET 3.5 and 4):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Defaults\Provider\Microsoft Enhanced RSA and AES Cryptographic Provider]
"Image Path"="rsaenh.dll"

found here: Siderite's Blog

I think this will be in FAQ.

Hope'll help someone.

Hi ffs2001 and thanks for your contribution. Honestly, I didn't test WPP on Windows XP anymore. It is outdated.
This error message is certainly due to the new way WPP use to store the admin password for remote command.
Previous release of WPP should still works.
